Who is this for?

Professional drivers who hold a current LGV licence are required to undertake periodic training. All professional drivers must complete a minimum 35 hours of training over each 5 year period. Thistraining must be completed by a centre approved bythe Joint Approvals Unit For Periodic Training (JAUPT).

Course Duration

7 Hour module

Accreditation

Candidates will receive a Training Express
certificate after successful completion of the training. Hours completed towards Periodic Training will then be uploaded to the driving Standards Agency database.

Course Content

Training Express are currently scheduling courses in 2010 for the following 7 hour modules:

• Daily Walk Round Checks, Defect Reporting & Safe Loading of Vehicles

What the law says

From September 2009 all LGV licence olders who drive professionally will need to complete periodic training. Periodic training is a requirement of the EU Directive 2003/59 and has been put in place to improve the knowledge and skills of professional drivers throughout their working life. All new licence holders will also be required to take part in the driver CPC programme.
